Williamson was founded in 1944 and has been a family run business since 1956. With experience in electric motors, Robert L Tilton Sr was ready to establish roots in Needham, MA. With training  on a US Navy submarine tender at the helm, Williamson flourished.

In the early 70’s Robert’s two sons, Robert Lee Tilton Jr. “Bob” and Brian K. Tilton, joined the company as service technicians. Robert’s wife, Charlotte, worked as the office manager.  After years of field training learning the motor, pump and control industry they became the 2nd generation of family to run the company; Bob as President and Brian as Treasurer.

Under their management, Williamson continued to grow. In 2001, they purchased their largest competitor, New England Electric Motor Service Corp of Chelsea, creating a new name; Williamson New England Electric Motor Service Corp.  which later would be changed to Williamson Pump & Motor.  Bob’s son, Robert A. Tilton “Rob”, who possesses a Master License and Brian’s daughter, Rebecca Baker, with her business degree, joined as Vice Presidents to become the 3rd generation of family at Williamson.

With business thriving, it became necessary to find a facility large enough to house its inventory and repair shop.  Moving to its current location in Chelsea, MA has allowed them to continue to grow and prosper in the diversity of products and services they are able to offer both residential and industrial customers throughout New England.

In 2008, Williamson expanded, yet again, with the purchase of Water & Waste Equipment adding its first branch location in New Britain, CT, extending their service force to Western MA and CT. In 2018, the Biddeford, ME office was opened to offer service to the northern part of New England.

Williamson is made up of many long-term employees as well as additional family members including Brian’s daughter, Amanda, and her husband, Damien, together with other extended family. With Rebecca’s daughter, Jessica Lee, Amanda’s son, Brian, and  Rob’s  son, Hunter, we look forward to a future 4th generation family owned business.
